CANBERRA GOLF

Yowani Golf Club & Bungalow Accommodation
Yowani Golf Course
The Club was originally formed in 1954 and has developed into one of Australia's finest inland courses. Yowani promises to test every shot in a golfer's repertoire. Accurate drives, mid to long iron precision and a sharp short game are the necessary ingredients for a successful round on the Cooper and Nagle designed course. The Par 72, 6265 metre course with an Australian course rating of 74, boasts finely framed fairways, generous greens, subtle bunkering and a "dossier of drink".
Yowani Country Club has 24 modern, self-contained motel units. All our units include a double or queen size bed and a double sofa couch. Other facilities include a refrigerator, toaster, microwave, electric frying pan, kettle, iron and ironing board, linen, blankets, crockery, and cutlery. All units also have heating and airconditioning. Housekeepers service the units daily and extra portable beds can be arranged for those guests who require them. Go to Golf Page

City Highlights

Canberra is a uniquely Australian city which has a very strong North American connection. Upon the agreement to form a federation in 1901, an international design competition was conducted, won by a young architect from Chicago, Walter Burley Griffin and his wife Marion Mahoney Griffin. Canberra is the national capital located in the Australian Capital Territory. Population 325,000.

Canberra's climate and facilities make it an ideal place for sailing, fishing, cricket, football and hang gliding; there are more than 180 miles of bicycle paths. With its multitude of parks and gardens, the national capital is particularly beautiful during Australia's spring and summer months.

Parliament House on Capital Hill is a spectacular, modern building housing Australia's House of Representatives and Senate, the offices of the Prime Minister and Members of Parliament. Nearby at Yarralumla, nearly 70 countries have diplomatic missions, some built in the style representative of their countries. Drive along Lake Burley Griffin and visit the National Gallery, High Court, Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre and the National Library. On the way to Black Mountain, stop at the Australian National Botanic Gardens where Australian native plants are grown. Telstra Tower, on top of Black Mountain offers a great view of the city. The Australian War Memorial is a national shrine and museum housing a fascinating collection of paintings, weapons, uniforms and exhibits documenting Australia's military history. Other attractions include the Royal Australian Mint, National Aquarium, Australian Wildlife Sanctuary and the Australian Institute of Sport.

See the Canberra Casino

Canberra's sub-alpine climate is similar to that of the famous Bordeau region of France and not surprisingly, the local wine industry is fast building a reputation for the production of a range of first class cool climate wines.

Canberra is only an hour by air from either Sydney or Melbourne. It is also an ideal jump-off point for a discovery tour of the stunning south coast of New South Wales and the Snowy Mountain ski fields.
